Věčná Ječná

We are pleased to present the unique Věčná Ječná residence, in which The name of the project comes from the 1960s underground movement. It was a place that was always packed with people, and hundreds of dissidents passed through its doors – students, actors, musicians, poets and artists. It was a meeting place for people who had the courage to be free at a time when there was no freedom. Things happened here that would later change the future.

The principal surgeon at the hospital on Karlovo náměstí had the building erected in 1913 for his family. It became one of the most famous dissident hangouts in the last century, when members of Charter 77 met in the flat belonging to the Němec family on the third floor, making it the most important apartment in Czechoslovakia during normalisation. In the 1960s, when life was lived behind locked doors, the doors of this building remained uniquely open.

Using craft and skills developed over many years, we have transformed this building with an artistic soul and intellectual character into beautiful apartments which continue to reflect the spirit of the underground. During our renovation we respected the building’s historical value, and inside we have transformed the interiors to create living spaces for the most exacting clients.
